If you are suffering from male-pattern baldness, you are not alone. 50% of men experience this, and it can be embarrassing. Finasteride tablets inhibit the amount of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in your body, and this allows natural regrowth of hair. Merck, Sharp & Dohme originally manufactured finasteride under the brand name Propecia, but their UK patent expired in October 2014, allowing other manufacturers to produce finasteride as well.

Finasteride was manufactured by a company called Actavis under the brand name of Aindeem, and this brand is very well-known. However, Actavis was taken over by Accord who now supply it under their own name. There is also another brand called Milpharm, but all of the products contain finasteride, and all perform the same functions.
Finasteride is very effective in allowing the regrowth of hair in men with mild or moderate loss of hair, and results are usually apparent after taking the tablets for a few months. In fact, trials have shown that no less than 90% of men taking finasteride either show regrowth of hair, or at the very least have no further hair loss.
It becomes apparent that the full effect is taking place after taking finasteride for at least three months, and it may take up to six months. The dose is one tablet every day which may be taken with or without food. It is important to continue taking the tablets, because if you cease to do so it is likely that you will lose the hair that has grown within 9 – 12 months.
